Hydrosols have the same properties as the essential oils they are named for, but in lower concentrations. They are gentle, fragrant, and suitable for all ages. They can provide re-hydrating, nurturing, and refreshing benefits to the skin.

How they work

Some are saying that Hydrosols are the REAL aromatherapy. "They represent the true synergy of herbalism and aromatherapy." (Jeanne Rose, author of 375 Essential Oils and Hydrosols.)

Hydrosols are produced during the distilling of essential oils. Coined the homeopathy of aromatherapy, they contain the water-soluble volatile components of the plant. They are therapeutic and extremely mild. Unlike essential oils, they can be taken internally or applied directly to the skin.

Hydrosols may be used for the same general purposes for which one would use the corresponding essential oils or herb. They are particularly beneficial for use on babies, elderly people or people with sensitive skin. The gentle benevolent nature of hydrosols, offer us a many treatment possibilities when a more subtle approach is required.

Apply directly to skin as spray mists, splashes, compresses or soaks. Use to hydrate dry skin, tone sluggish skin, freshen tired and stressed skin, soothe sunburned skin.

The beauty and pleasure of simply spritzing yourself with these gentle fragrances:

• Cool a hot flash
• Soothe a sunburn
• Soothe a pet's hot spot
• Clean the air
• Freshen the bathroom
• Keep in the entryway to freshen the air before guests arrive

Hygiene:

• Disinfect your hands
• Make your own wet wipes - spray on a tissue or damp cloth and use. Great for you,your pets, your baby. Good for dirty faces, hands and bottoms.
• Use for healing sitz bath.

Travel:

• Refresh the air during travel-car, hotel room, airplane. Cleanse that recycled air
• Hydrosols act as air-borne viricides.

Beverage:

• Add 1 teaspoon in 6 to 8 oz. Water or mineral water
• Add a splash to a glass of white wine or champagne.

Laundry:

• Spray in dryer before adding clothes and then directly on the clothes
• Spray on clothes during ironing

Fine Dining:

• Spray on cloth napkins to refresh the scent.
• Place bowls of hydrosol with flowers floating in them in the centerpiece to scent room
• Serve small finger bowls of the same at the end of the meal to clean hands.

Beauty and skin care:

• Spritz on face to set makeup
• Spritz on hair and scrunch to refresh and scent hairdo
• Add to cream and lotion products to increase their efficacy
• Add to your bath

Petcare:

• Many believe that essential oils should not be used on cats. Hydrosols are a safer alternative. Use the corresponding hydrosol as you would use the essential oil.
